This was our 5th Annual trip to Williamsburg, VA and we had so much fun, just as we have in past years. This year the Heritage family came with us which made the trip even more delightful! You are probably wondering what we do there...Well, all of us dress in authentic colonial clothing and stroll the streets of Williamsburg, shopping in the 18th century shops such as Mary Dickenson Millinery (ladies' accessories and hat shop), Shields Tavern or Raleigh Tavern Bakery (where we get our hot apple cider and baked goods), and Greenhow's or Tarpley's General store. We tour colonial homes and learn about the families who lived in Williamsburg around the time of the War for Independence and enjoy visiting the different tradesmen and learning of their trade. Favorites include the milliner and tailor, silversmith, blacksmith, cabinetmaker, and weaver. I think that one of our favorite things to do is enjoy the Palace Gardens behind the Governor's Palace, walking along the little paths that meander everywhere. We have a fabulous time living in the 18th century for a week!
